Scholar Support Program (SSP)

The Tomás Rivera Center for Student Success (TRC) is an academic support unit dedicated to providing services that will promote student success.

The Scholar Support Program (SSP) was established at the Tomás Rivera Center to provide academic support for the recipents of select scholarships . Through a comprehensive programming effort, SSP provides a multi-faceted approach for student success. Through the combined approach of advising, classroom work, mentoring, public service, and networking, participants in SSP build a foundation for success at UTSA and elsewhere.

SSP has had a successful record since its inception in 1997. It was established as a pilot program to increase the number of certain scholarship freshman going into their second year. On average, the retention rate for SSP students is 17% above the general freshman class.
