The UTSA public affairs team is the primary university contact for print, broadcast and online journalists.
We share UTSA news with the media, coordinate campus media visits and help the media find UTSA sources for their stories. We also provide the media with official university statements. Our goal is to establish and nurture working relationships that are mutually beneficial for the university and the media.
UTSA public affairs specialists work closely with journalists every day. Sometimes, it’s a story about UTSA research that catches a journalist’s eye. Other times, a story about UTSA’s community involvement demonstrates the impact UTSA has on San Antonio or Texas. Likewise, the personal stories of UTSA students and alumni demonstrate UTSA is helping them transform their lives.
In 2008, UTSA set forth a bold goal to become a Tier One research institution. While the benchmarks for Tier One schools are loosely defined, UTSA’s focus on excellence in every aspect of what it has to offer has positioned the university as a top contender for Tier One status.
The more we talk about the great work underway at UTSA, the more the public will understand that UTSA is poised to become a top-tier institution. The local and national media have been wonderful partners in helping us share that story. Likewise, we invite you help us spread the word.
