    Meal Plans - 2014-2015 School Year

A meal plan provides Meals and Dining Dollars that a student can use only at Dining Facilities on campus. All students who reside in Laurel Village or Chaparral Village are required to purchase a meal plan but may choose from the many options available. Students residing in Chisholm Hall and University Oaks may purchase a meal plan, but it is not required. Unused Guest Meals and Dining Dollars are forfeited at the end of each Semester. All of our meal plans consist of meals and some offer Dining Dollars. The Meal Plans are recommended for all students and is the most economical, flexible, and fun way to eat on campus. We offer a variety of options to fit your lifestyle. Choose from one of the many plans described below.

  • What are the primary differences between Meal Plan vs. Rowdy Dollars?
  • A meal plan is guaranteed meals or Dining Dollars that a student can use only at UTSA Dining Facilities oncampus. Rowdy Dollars can be used virtually anywhere on campus. Some students tend to use Rowdy Dollars for purchases other than food and end up hungry. Rowdy Dollars roll from semester to semester as long as the student is enrolled at the University. Unused Meals and Dining Dollars are forfeited at the end of each Semester.

  • Who is the Meal Plan best suited for?
  • Anyone! Students who want to make sure that they will have a plentiful number of meals and be able to continue eating all semester long are most interested.

  • Where can I use my Meal Plan?
  • Meals can only be used at Roadrunner Café. Dining Dollars can be used at all other Campus Dining Facilities (JPL Food Court, Chick-Fil-A, Taco Cabana, Panda Express, Burger King, Chili’s Too, Extreme Pita, Subway, Starbucks, C3 Convenience Store, Smoothie King, Einstein Brother’s Bagels, and the Downtown Food Court).

    Roadrunner Café is an “all you can eat” buffet style facility and offers many options. Menus are posted on ARAMARK’s website at

    Retail Dining Facilities offer a variety of food choices including nationally recognized franchises.

  • What is an Access plan?
  • Access 5 and Access 7 Meal Plan holders may eat as many times per day at Roadrunner Café as desired provided that thirty minutes have elapsed between attempts. This plan type allows students who choose to eat multiple times per day to meet their dining style.

    Some Access plans come with Guest Meals. You can redeem them one at a time or all in one sitting.

    Access 5 allows dining Monday – Friday ONLY, Access 7 allows dining 7 days a week.

  • How do I sign up for a Meal Plan?
  • Meal Plan contracts are submitted online through ASAP under the Student Services tab by clicking the UTSACard link, and then Meal Plan Application. The cost is assessed to your tuition and fees at UTSA Fiscal Services. Payments can be made online or at the Fiscal Services Office.

Important facts about the Meal Plan

  • Census Date for 2012-2013: Fall – September 14, 2012
  • Meal Plans are for 9 months and can only be cancelled for convenience before census date of the semester in which the meal plan application is completed. Cancellation charges will apply.
  • Residents of Chaparral and Laurel Village MUST have a meal plan as part of residency requirements
  • Meals and Dining Dollars are forfeited at the end of each Semester. Meals and Dining Dollars do NOT roll forward to future semesters.
  • After Census date (12th class day of semester), no changes can be made to your meal plan. Until then, you can change which plan you are on without penalty. If you cancel your meal plan before census date, you are still responsible for a prorated portion of the meal plan based on meals consumed and Dining Dollars expended or number of days on the plan, whichever is greater.
  • Usage reports are available upon request in the UTSACard Office as well as through your ASAP account.
