UTSA Mobile App

The UTSA Mobile App offers an additional method for communicating broadly with students.

UTSA's Mobile App is used by students to reference their class schedules, register for courses, check account balances and more. All UTSA students are required to download the app during their orientation.

Push notifications are automatically enabled for students while they are actively using the app. Students may also receive notifications even when they aren't using the app, depending on whether they have them enabled via their phone settings.

Push Notification Guidelines

  • Push notifications are reserved for high-level university messages that apply to the majority of the student body, and are limited in frequency for impact.
  • Push notification requests will be reviewed/approved and coordinated by the Director of Digital Customer Experience in University Technology Solutions, in consultation with campus communications leads when warranted.
  • Requests should be made as far in advance as possible, but no fewer than two days before rollout.

Mobile App Feeds

UTSA's Mobile App has several community feeds where students can post messages on thematic topics, such as housing, ride sharing, student news, and more. Staff from UTSA's Student Affairs and University Strategic Communications offices monitor the feeds and post responses or conduct follow-ups when needed. In addition, affinity group channels can be created within the app (see the Veteran & Military Affairs channel as an example).
