Content Management System & Hosting

Although UTSA’s websites utilize a few content management systems, the goal is to move as many sites into the university’s official CMS as possible over time.

Content Management System

UTSA utilizes Cascade CMS as its official Content Management System (CMS). Most of the university’s top-level websites are managed through Cascade. The university community is encouraged to build any new or redeveloped sites within Cascade for the many benefits that come with being in a centralized CMS, including support and training offered by the Web Services team, automatic updates to university-wide standard template elements, additional security, and more.

WordPress is another common CMS for UTSA units, especially for those developing microsites or landing pages with specialized audiences. The Web Services team offers hosting solutions for a nominal annual fee to units maintaining or developing WordPress sites.

The Web Services team is available to consult with you on your CMS needs, and liaison with vendors used by the university for site migration projects.

Website Hosting Services

The Web Services team serves as the web publishing community’s primary liaison with University Technology Solutions to coordinate web publishing access, sub-domain setup and server hosting space. Working with departmental web teams, information security team, and UTS, the Web Services team offers the following services:

  • UTSA sub-domains
  • Non-UTSA domains
  • Friendly and marketable redirects
  • Backups of your site and data
  • Security updates
  • Access control
  • Technical support services
