Meet a Geek

Meet a Geek Alan Safai

We at OIT were curious about how well we really knew our colleagues.  In this blog post series, we'll interview the many faces of OIT to get a better understanding of the people who work with technology at UTSA.

So with no further ado, let's meet, Alan Safai,Technical Writer/Editor I, OIT Customer Relations

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I am an Instructional Technology graduate student a few weeks away from graduation. I studied English Literature at UT Austin.

2. What attracted you to this job?

I wanted to get as close to my field as possible and also utilize my writing skills. This position seemed to meet both those requirements, so I applied and was given the job. The pay also helped a lot.

3. What would you like to learn and why?

I would very much like to learn how to roll my tongue. All the cool kids seem to be able to do that, but I don't know how. I'm pretty sure it's sorcery, some form of advanced sorcery. I'd like to learn this magic.

4. What is your favorite candy bar?

I don't really eat candy, so I don't think I have one.

5. What special talents do you have?

I have too many to list!

6. Star Wars or Star Trek?

Star Wars. I think I was born just a bit too late for the famous Star Trek shows.

7. Do you have any hobbies that you would like to share with us?

I spent most of my time reading and writing. A good day is doing only those two and nothing else.

Thank you Alan, for your honesty and sincerity, it was a fun way to get to know you!
