This program is for teens (middle and high school) with a strong interest in visual arts looking to develop their individual skills and talent through professional instruction in a serious learning environment. The program provides the young artist an opportunity to develop their portfolio by committing to an academic year-long program for high school students and a semester long program for middle school students. Students are also involved in various community and service-learning opportunities throughout their time in the program.
High School Program students meet twice a week either Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday with some weekend events. Middle School Program students meet once a week on Fridays with some weekend events. For more information about the program contact Teen Program Coordinator Kim Bishop by emailing kimberly.bishop@utsa.edu.
An application, portfolio review, and an interview process is required for selection to this program.
Middle school students are required to fill out an application and submit a letter of recommendation from an educator or mentor. The application process for Spring 2023 is now open. Deadline to apply is December 15th. Find the application here. Please return completed application to Kim Bishop, kimberly.bishop@utsa.edu
To participate in this program, students selected are expected to cover a $150 per term (fall & spring) studio fee for materials and supplies. For students in need of financial assistance, there is a limited amount of funding assistance available to offset the cost of the fee.
Scholarships are available for community members who qualify. Teen Studio Intensive Tuition assistance is offered on a case-by-case basis. Those interested in more information may contact Patricia Morales, patricia.morales@utsa.edu
