Announcement and Congratulations to Veronica Salazar

October 21, 2025

Dear Colleagues,

It is with gratitude for her service to our community that I share that Veronica Salazar, Senior Executive Vice President for Enterprise Development and Transformation, has announced her decision to retire, effective December 31.

I know that I speak on behalf of our entire community when I express my deep appreciation for Veronica’s incredible leadership. Her commitment to operational excellence and strategic growth has supported tremendous success at the university, and her impact will be felt for generations to come. As she prepares to embark on this new journey, we will take time to celebrate her many accomplishments and contributions to our community.

Veronica joined The University of Texas at San Antonio in 2019 and quickly developed a strategic pathway to support our institutional growth. As Chief Financial Officer, she ensured our institution’s financial stewardship, implemented and revamped our Incentivized Resource Management budget model, and expertly navigated the pandemic while keeping a constant focus on our students and employees. During Veronica’s tenure, she supported our success in earning Carnegie R1 classification, doubling our footprint in downtown San Antonio, and expanding support for the UTSA Athletics program. She is truly a visionary in enterprise growth and development, and we are so fortunate to have benefited so meaningfully from her leadership.

At the end of the fall semester, Andrea Marks will assume leadership for Business Affairs. This transition was already planned as part of our functional integration efforts, and much progress has already occurred in transition planning and rollout. At some point during the spring semester, we plan to launch a search for a leader to oversee enterprise development and transformation for our university.

I am deeply appreciative of Veronica's service to our community. I have learned a great deal through our close work and partnership and know that our community has benefited significantly from her many, many contributions. She has led the Business Affairs division through its reinvention. She has done a spectacular job leading the Integration Management Office. More than all of this, she has always, always been a powerful voice supporting all of our people.

I know I speak on behalf of the entire Roadrunner community when I say we all wish Veronica and her family all the best in their next adventure!

With appreciation,

Taylor Eighmy, PhD
