A proud moment for our UT San Antonio community
Colleagues and Students,
It is with great pride and excitement that I share we’ve reached yet another significant milestone in our university’s journey toward reaffirmation of accreditation as UT San Antonio.
Yesterday, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) substantive change committee completed its site visit and verified UT San Antonio’s continued compliance with rigorous accreditation standards as a merged university. This verification is a result of the immense time, effort and talents of our collective community, and notably, we achieved it together on an ambitious timeline consistent with our UT System Board of Regents vision for our new university.
The substantive change site visit team visited the academic campuses – including Main Campus, Downtown Campus and San Pedro I – the Health Science Center Campus, and one of the institution’s off-campus instructional sites, Sunshine Cottage School for Deaf Children, to meet with students, faculty, staff and administrators. Following their meetings, the reviewers found that UT San Antonio remains fully compliant with all accreditation standards and had “no recommendations” to share — a testament to our rigorous efforts and thoughtful preparation.
I am deeply grateful to each of you, and I’m especially appreciative to the members of our President’s Cabinet and the leads and members of our SACSCOC Accreditation Task Force, whose incredible work resulted in the successful submission of our prospectus, substantive change committee report, and committee site visit.
As we continue to progress toward our next milestone in our shared reaffirmation of accreditation journey, it is anticipated that the SACSCOC Board will formally act on this finding at its board meeting next June.
Until then, I encourage you to celebrate our collective work that has brought us to this very special day. Together, we are building the foundation for UT San Antonio— a preeminent national, public-serving research university committed to excellence in academics, research, innovation, and healthcare.
Thank you for everything you’ve done, and continue to do each day, to advance the mission of our new university.
With appreciation,
Taylor Eighmy, PhD
President, UT San Antonio
