(Jan. 22, 2008)--A UTSA research team of four students, UTSA sea-ice expert and research associate professor Stephen Ackley and Boerne High School teacher Sarah Anderson are back from a two-month trip to Antarctica.
The trip was more then they were expecting -- a fire on board the ship knocked out communications systems for a few days, forcing the crew to regroup and return to Chile.
After rearranging their schedule, they headed back to Antarctica and braved hurricane-force winds in sub-zero temperatures. Despite the setbacks, they were able to gather data and conduct samplings on the expedition.
