(Aug. 17, 2017) -- As busy students, you’re always looking for something quick to eat between classes. UTSA Dining makes eating healthy easy—with options across campus to suit a wide range of lifestyles and tastes.
Roadrunner Café has something for everyone.
The Roadrunner Café, which is next to Chaparral Village on the Main Campus, has ten stations to choose from with a lot of them offering made-to-order options for customization and variety. With every meal is nutritional information so you always know exactly what you’re eating.
Icons at each station identify options that are low calorie, low sodium, low fat, vegetarian, vegan, made with whole grains, etc. There's even an interactive wellness touch screen if you want more info about the food.
Everything you need to know is on the UTSA Dining website and the CampusDish mobile app, available for iPhone and Android. Plus a full list of the menus with nutritional information and identifying icons is available online.
If you’re eating healthy, you definitely won’t go hungry.
UTSA is home to several restaurants, many of which are national brands, and nearly all of them have options for the health-conscious.
Greens To Go in the John Peace Library (JPL) food court offers more than 10,800 customizable options for hand-crafted, made-to-order salads and wraps.
The Market Place in the Business Building has a variety of healthier, fresh options, including grilled chicken sandwiches, frozen vegan burritos and salads. They even have a frozen yogurt bar to stay cool with a sweet treat.
Although it’s a burger place, MOOYAH in the UC has leaner options, including a black bean burger, a turkey burger and lettuce wraps.
Panda Express, which is right next to MOOYAH, has a lot of healthier choices too, including grilled chicken teriyaki meals, steamed vegetables and brown rice.
Over in the JPL, Chick-fil-A has grilled chicken sandwiches and fresh market salads for a healthier alternative to its fried offerings.
Across the way is Subway, where you can order a sandwich, salad or flatbread from a seemingly endless array of vegetables and leaner meats. On the other end of campus but don't want to walk too far? A second Subway is located in the H-E-B UC.
The UC is also home to Chili’s Too, a sit-down restaurant where diners can pair their Chili’s favorites with a soup or salad. You can also enjoy grilled chicken sandwiches, in addition to several lunch combos for great prices.
If you’re looking for breakfast or even a light lunch, Einstein Bros. in the Biotechnology, Sciences and Engineering (BSE) Building offers freshly baked whole-grain bagels, breakfast paninis, sandwiches and salads. Want less bagel with the same great taste? Ask for your sandwich on a bagel thin.
When you’re really on the run, stop by any of the P.O.D.s – “Provisions on Demand” – around campus. They're in almost every building on both the Main and Downtown Campuses. You’ll find fresh drinks, pre-packaged salads and sandwiches, and other healthier options for eating on-the-go.
At the Downtown Campus, visit the food court which offers its own unique dining experiences, like Grille Works, Sushic and Subway.
So, next time you’re hungry, visit one of UTSA’s many dining options. You’re sure to find something you like that will fill you up and help you hit the books.
