As we begin a new academic year at UTSA, Student Government President Marcus Thomas has a message for all Roadrunners…
(Aug. 18, 2017) -- Welcome to Roadrunner Nation, Class of 2021! My name is Marcus Thomas and I will be serving as your student body president for the 2017-18 school year. I want to encourage all Roadrunners to get involved and to serve your community because your impact can reach further than you may expect.
The Student Government Association, or SGA, along with many other student organizations, is here to provide opportunities and assist you in your journey so you can be successful in the classroom and become the leaders of tomorrow.
SGA is the official voice of the student body at UTSA. We advocate on behalf of all students to the UTSA administration, local and state officials. SGA was a primary leader in the initiatives to bring the Rowdy statue and our Division I Football program to campus, along with many other innovative projects. We strive for you to get involved and actively engage with the community through a diverse exchange of ideas so that we may all benefit and grow from our shared experiences and knowledge.
The best way that you can get involved is by joining student organizations as soon as you get to campus. There is a home for everyone at UTSA.
What’s even better is that it’s just as easy to start a new organization as it is to join one.
Being a part of a registered student organization can open doors to new opportunities that you may not have known of otherwise. You can make lifelong friends, discover job prospects or explore new career paths you had never considered before.
It’s also important that you feel empowered and in control of your college career in a meaningful way. If the status quo isn’t working for you, share your voice. That is exactly what SGA is here to help you do. Share your perspectives with us on academics and student life at UTSA.
SGA is here to help. We will continue to push for an exchange of challenging ideas, so that all students can learn from one another and be prepared to serve as active and engaged citizens after they graduate from UTSA.
