Armaan Chakkiwala earned his B.B.A. in information systems and cybersecurity at UTSA.
(June 15, 2018) -- Taking full advantage of all of the opportunities in the UTSA College of Business, Armaan Chakkiwala '18 graduated this May with his bachelor’s degree in information systems and cybersecurity.
A member of the Honors College, while at UTSA he held three officer positions with Delta Sigma Pi, a professional business fraternity, and was also named a Distinguished Business Student.
“I had the chance to attend an immersion in Italy last summer through the college’s international immersion program,” said Chakkiwala. “It was an unforgettable experience and gave me great exposure to international business.”
Chakkiwala noted that his favorite class was Network Security with Assistant Professor Rohit Valecha. “I learned a lot in that class about how to apply cyber security in the real world,” he said. He also polished his cyber security skills working as an intern at Digital Defense in security operations.
Building upon his academic and practical knowledge, Chakkiwala will work with the cyber threat management team at EY following graduation.
“There’s only so much you can learn in a classroom, and the best exposure you can get is by putting yourself out of your comfort zone,” he said. “In addition to internships, get as much experience in the real world as you can.”
Reflecting on his time at UTSA, Chakkiwala said that being a Roadrunner means being ambitious in all that you do. “Have an open mind and respect other’s opinions. Encourage your peers, follow your aspirations and never settle for less.”
