(July 16, 2018) -- Students discover something new this week during several popular camps on the UTSA Main Campus. Throughout the summer, UTSA offers more than 60 camps in science, engineering, architecture, sports, music, writing, language, culture and more.
Campers will learn about the life cycle of butterflies, discover the Japanese culture and enhance their skills on the diamond and court.
UTSA’s summer camp agenda this week includes the following camps:
Monarch Butterfly Ecology Summer Camp
Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Main Campus
UTSA environmental science staff and students will share their knowledge and passion about the state insect of Texas. Campers will learn what's being done to increase the monarch butterfly population and how to have an appreciation for wildlife and wildlife conservation. This camp is intended for children ages 6-12.
iTEC Camps
Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., various locations, Main Campus
Campers will explore science, technology, engineering and math through hands-on activities. This week, campers in kindergarten through 2nd grade will learn about food science and go on epic STEAM adventures. Third through 5th graders will uncover renewable futures.
New this year, UTSA is also offering Texas Workforce Commission Governor’s Summer Merit Program, a free iTEC program for qualified students ages 14-21. The camp gives students an understanding and appreciation of specific aspects of the science, technology and career opportunities in advanced technologies and manufacturing, particularity robotics.
Japanese Language and Culture Camp
Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Main Campus
Campers will enjoy the week learning to read, write and speak the Japanese language. They also will learn about the Japanese culture and spend time cooking, creating arts and crafts activities with an East Asian theme. This camp is intended for children ages 6-12.
Baseball Camp
Monday and Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Roadrunner Field, Main Campus
High school and Junior College athletes will undergo evaluations and work on skills and drills during these one-day camps.
Volleyball Camp
Monday and Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Convocation Center, Main Campus
UTSA Volleyball offers two camps this week. Offense Camps focuses on all offensive and point scoring aspects of the game. At Defense Camp, players will enhance their defensive skills.

Virtual EventPubMed is an essential database for anyone conducting biomedical or health-related research. This workshop will teach attendees how to effectively navigate this free resource and locate peer-reviewed articles using advanced search features, MeSH subject headings, and Boolean operators.
Virtual EventIn this hands-on workshop, participants will learn to setup an EndNote library, save references and PDFs, and automatically create and edit a bibliography. Attendees are encouraged, but not required, to have EndNote already installed on a personal computer.
