(July 30, 2018) -- The summer is winding down but the fun continues at UTSA summer camps. Throughout the summer, UTSA offers more than 60 camps in science, engineering, architecture, sports, music, writing, language, culture and more.
This week, campers will explore water, robotics and coding. They’ll also hit the diamond to work on their baseball skills.
UTSA offers these camps for the week of July 30-Aug. 3:
Hydrology (All About Water) Camp
Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Main Campus
A new camp at UTSA this summer, curious minds will explore all the different places water lives around us. Campers ages 6-12 will discover the unique underground water systems in Bexar County and learn about ground water, water cycles, drinking water and the creatures that call the Edwards Aquifer home.
iTEC Camps
Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., various locations, Main Campus
Campers will explore science, technology, engineering and math through hands-on activities. This week, campers in kindergarten through 2nd grade will explore environmental science and programming. Third grade through 5th grade will take a closer look at human biology and try their hands at coding. Sixth grade through 8th grade will gear up for a space race.
New this year, UTSA is also offering Texas Workforce Commission Governor’s Summer Merit Program, a free iTEC program for qualified students ages 14-21. The camp gives students an understanding and appreciation of specific aspects of the science, technology and career opportunities in advanced technologies and manufacturing, particularity robotics.
Youth Future Stars Baseball Camp
Monday to Wednesday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Roadrunner Field, Main Campus
This baseball camp provides an intense camp experience for skilled youth players ages 9-14. Camp will mirror a UTSA practice setting. UTSA coaches and players will train campers on a quality stretching and pre-practice routine, focus on defense and playing your position of choice, cover situational aspects of the game and cover a wide range of drills and techniques in the area of hitting and situational offense.
