UTSA Roadrunner Days Schedule: August 21

(Aug. 21, 2018) – The 2018-2019 school year begins today at UTSA! Thousands of Roadrunners will be roaming the Main and Downtown Campuses this semester including freshmen, transfers, international and first-generation students. They can add some excitement to syllabus week by attending Roadrunner Days, a series of fun events that offer ’Runners the opportunity to further immerse themselves in the UTSA community.

Here’s what’s going on today:

UTSA Swag Day

Roadrunner Nation! Show off your UTSA pride by sporting blue and orange UTSA swag to celebrate the start of the fall semester. Students, faculty, staff, alumni and Roadrunner families on and off-campus are encouraged to participate. 

Networking Socials – Day 1
8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Student Union, Harris Room (HSU 2.212) and Travis Room (HSU 2.202), Main Campus

The Student Center for Community Engagement and Inclusion hosts Community Networking Socials during Roadrunner Day that focus on UTSA’s diverse population. All Networking Socials are casual come and go events for all Roadrunners. Attendees do not have to identify with the population group indicated.

Networking Social times and sessions:
8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. - LBGTQ+
11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. - Hispanic/Latin@/Latinx
4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. - International students, faculty and staff

Free 1st Day of Classes Pic
11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Student Union Paseo, Main Campus

Students can stop by the photo station and capture forever memories with friends on the first day of classes. Share with friends and family via social media using #UTSARRDays. UTSA Involvement Ambassadors will also be passing out first day of classes goodie bags.

Paletas with the Prez
1 p.m. to 2 p.m., Sombrilla, Main Campus                                                                                                       

Join fellow Roadrunners and President Eighmy in celebrating the start of the new school year with free paletas.

The Roadrunner Life Hacks - Day 1
2 p.m. to 7 p.m., Student Union, Harris Room (HSU 2.212) and Travis Room (HSU 2.202), Main Campus

UTSA has students covered with tips to help them survive and thrive through their academic career. This new workshop series kicks off today providing information about common issues and questions students may have as they navigate university life. Presentations are led by university staff and student leaders who can share their knowledge and experience providing guidance about university life. Find out more about sessions and times.

Fraternity/Sorority Life New Member Information Session
4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Student Union Retama Auditorium (SU 2.02.02), Main Campus

Students are invited to this information session and meet and greet with members of the UTSA Fraternity and Sorority Life community to see if Greek Life is right for them. This session will introduce potential new members to the values and standards of the fraternity and sorority life community. 

Students will need to check into all Roadrunner Days events using Event Pass on their mobile device.  To do so, simply log in to RowdyLink, click on profile and download event pass using Apple Wallet, Google Play or screenshot.  Saving the event pass makes checking into campus events quick and easy.  In many cases, students will need their event pass or abc123 to get free swag, food and shirts at events.
