(April 29, 2019) -- The UTSA Athletics Department announced today that 100 percent of its full-time employees participated in a staff giving initiative by making gifts this academic year in support of its 350-plus student-athletes, marking the first time this has been accomplished in school history.
"Our staff and coaches are in the community every day inviting fans to come to games and asking our supporters to make gifts to the Roadrunner Athletic Fund so that we can recruit and support the best student-athletes," Vice President and Athletics Director Lisa Campos said. "We don’t want to ask anything from our community that we are not willing to do ourselves."
The staff giving initiative is part of Campos’ Roadrunner Game Plan, a strategic vision focused on enhancing the student-athlete experience, creating a culture of excellence, establishing a growth-focused funding model and uniting our San Antonio community.
“It feels really good to say that we are ‘all in’ in support of the young people we teach and mentor every day,” Campos said. “This initiative is just the beginning of what we can accomplish when we work together. I am really excited about the direction and future of UTSA Athletics."
