University modifies admissions criteria for fall 2021

University modifies admissions criteria for fall 2021

JUNE 25, 2020 — Due to the continuing impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, UTSA announced today it will adjust its undergraduate admissions criteria and processes for fall 2021/spring 2022 admission to waive SAT and ACT scores as a requirement.

The announcement effectively extends changes that previously had been adopted for students applying for fall 2020/spring 2021.

“The pandemic has had an unprecedented impact on K–12 education in our state and nation, and we remain committed, despite those challenges, to helping future Roadrunners find their path to UTSA,” said Lynn Barnes Jr., senior vice provost for strategic enrollment.

“Our intention is to remove potential barriers to students pursuing their higher education goals.”

“By waiving the standardized testing requirement, our intention is to remove potential barriers to students pursuing their higher education goals, especially where standardized SAT/ACT testing may continue to be limited.”

Although SAT/ACT test scores will be waived for admission consideration, prospective students are encouraged to submit test scores if available. If provided, they will be included in the evaluation of a student’s overall application and are necessary if a student wants to be considered for automatic admission to UTSA.

“The more information that is available during the review process, the more it helps the university fully understand the student’s academic and nonacademic history,” said Barnes.
