Accreditation team completes successful virtual visit with UTSA

Accreditation team completes successful virtual visit with UTSA

AUGUST 18, 2020Editor’s note: The following message was sent via email from President Taylor Eighmy to all faculty and staff:

Earlier this month we welcomed UTSA’s Reaffirmation of Accreditation Committee in a series of virtual meetings with faculty, staff and students from across the university. These interviews served as a follow-up to our Compliance Certification Report submitted last fall (which resulted in very positive preliminary findings), giving our peer reviewer committee an opportunity to gather information for their final report.

I am pleased to share that this visit resulted in no recommendations from the committee. The reviewers complimented the professionalism and level of engagement of UTSA’s faculty, staff and students. They were also enthusiastic and supportive of our next Quality Enhancement Plan, Career FUEL: Find Understanding through Experiential Learning.

Because the on-site review was conducted virtually, select members of the committee will visit UTSA sometime over the next nine months to conduct an abbreviated site visit. The SACSCOC Board of Trustees is expected to vote on the committee’s recommendation in December of 2021, determining our accreditation status through 2030. The timeline for this vote was extended from 2020 to 2021 due to postponed site visits related to the pandemic.

This successful review could not have happened without the leadership of Kasey Neece-Fielder and her entire team in the Continuous Improvement and Accreditation Office, as well as the hard work of the Racing to Reaccreditation Team including 20 authors and 80 contributors from across the entire institution. My sincerest thanks go out to all involved. This seamless team effort is a wonderful indicator of UTSA’s ability to evolve and continue our trajectory toward our bold vision.
