UTSA partners in back-to-school event for military families

UTSA partners in back-to-school event for military families

AUGUST 24, 2020 — Helping to provide backpacks filled with school supplies to local students, UTSA’s Center for Military Families participated in the third annual Operation Homefront Back to School event. The event was a partnership between the Military Child Education Coalition and several other community organizations.

This year, Operation Homefront took place at the AT&T Center’s parking lot, where 350 backpacks were distributed to Joint Base San Antonio families in need via a drive-through service. JBSA services more Department of Defense students than any other installation in the nation.

“UTSA was proud to participate and give back to its local military community that gives so much through their service during these unprecedented times,” said Melissa Garcez, program coordinator for Family Engagement and the Center for Military Families.
