UTSA Behavioral Concerns Assistance

The Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) is a multi-disciplinary team of appointed UTSA staff and faculty who are responsible for identifying, assessing, and responding to concerns and/or disruptive behaviorexhibited by students, faculty, staff, and visitors who may present a risk of harm to themselves, members of the community, or the institution. The BIT consists of University personnel with expertise in human resources/employee assistance, law enforcement/threat assessment/policies, mental health knowledge, legal affairs, and student affairs.

There may be times when concerns about behavior arise.  Examples of such concerns include but are not limited to:

  • Written material containing alarming wording or out of context wording
  • Statements that indicate the threat of harm to self or others
  • Disregard for personal boundaries
  • A significant change in behavior

Click on Orange Folder for guidelines on submitting a report. The BIT reviews all submitted reports and determines appropriate interventions. Reports can be anonymous.

WHEN IN DOUBT, submit a BIT report.

Wearing face coverings on campus is a key component of a multilayered prevention strategy that all Roadrunners are strongly encouraged to practice, along with vaccination, hand washing, covering coughs and sneezes, staying home when sick, and regularly sanitizing personal study and office spaces. Recommended face coverings can be medical or non-medical grade and should fully cover both the nose and the mouth.
