:: MacOS X 10.2 or higher (excluding 10.4) Operation - Starting a VPN Session

1.  The client comes pre-configured for a full UTSA VPN tunnel. To start it, simply launch the VPN dialer. You will see a window similar to Figure 4. Click the "Connect" button. You will get a User Authentication window (see Figure 5). You will be prompted for a user name and password. The user name must follow this format: "Domain\user name" Please note that this is the same User ID and password that you use to logon onto your UTSA machine. The username will be saved for future use, but the password will not.

2.  Once you have been successfully authenticated, the window will temporarily disappear and reappear (see Figure 6). This lets you know the VPN tunnel is up and active. The elapsed time that you have been connected will be displayed in the lower right-hand corner of your screen. By clicking in the lower right-hand corner box on the elapsed time meter, you can alternate between different informational displays. One click shows amount of information transferred in and out while connected to the VPN tunnel (see Figure 7).  One more click will show you your current IP address (see Figure 8). You can verify your tunnel has been established by double-clicking on the lock. You can also get tunnel statistics from the Statistics tab (see Figure 9) under the Status menu bar.

3.  If the User Authentication window is displayed again after you enter your password, either the wrong password was entered or your account is locked. If you suspect your password has expired or is locked, please call the UTSA Help Desk at ext. 5538.

:: MacOS X 10.2 or higher (excluding 10.4) Operation - Shutting Down a VPN Session

To close a VPN session, simply click on the Disconnect button in the VPN client. The tunnel will immediately close. Be sure to unmount/eject any mapped drives from the Windows domain and log out if logged in with Dave before closing the VPN tunnel.

If the program suddenly exits after you enter your password, then the password was typed incorrectly or you do not have administrator privileges.
