Raymond T. Garza, Ph.D.,

DrGarzaRaymond T. Garza is the Executive Director of the Latino Health Research Initiative and Professor of Psychology and Management at the University of Texas at San Antonio. He earned his Masters in Psychology from Texas A&M University at Kingsville and his Ph.D. in Social Psychology from Purdue University. Dr. Garza is known internationally for his basic and applied research with Hispanic populations. His research and scholarly publications span three decades and include significant contributions in the areas of cross-cultural psychology, intergroup relations, leadership, social identity theory, acculturation, organizational behavior, and Hispanic mental health.

Dr. Garza’s research and professional programs, including several training grants for faculty and graduate students, have been supported by major grants from federal agencies and private foundations. Before coming to UTSA, he served a Associate professor of Psychology at the University of California, Riverside and has held several top administrative positions over the past 20 years, including Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at UTSA and senior advisor to the Executive Vice Chancellor of the University of Texas System. Dr. Garza is also an editorial board member for the Hispanic Journal of Behavioral Sciences.
