Welcome to the LRSG !

The Laboratory for Remote Sensing and Geoinformatics (LRSG), established in fall 2004, is funded by the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), with further support from the U.S. Department of Education through the MORE Science Program. The LRSG is located at the Science Building of the 1604 campus, including a teaching lab (SB2.01.02, tel 458-5831, currently sharing space  with the math department) and a graduate research office (SB4.03.24, tel 458-7815).

This lab has state-of-the-art field instruments and 30 computers and 8 high performance workstations equipped with core remote sensing and GIS software. Together with the Spatial Analysis Lab (SB2.03.04) we offer various GIS, GPS, and Remote Sensing courses. We support students seeking Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral degrees in Earth Science, Environmental Science (BA_ES), Multidisciplinary Science, and Environmental Science and Engineering. We also offer the GIS Graduate Certificate Program. Our research includes remote sensing, GIS (spatial analysis, statistic analysis, geodatabase, Internet GIS), GPS, and their applications to geology, hydrology, ecosystems, agriculture, forestry, hydrometeorology, urban development, environmental studies, Antarctic,  and planetary and space studies (such as Mars and Moon). (List of hardware and software we have).
