Kevin Kjosa serves as the Information Security Operations Officer for the Office of Information Technology (OIT) at The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). He is responsible for leadership in enterprise security supporting the university's mission in academics, community outreach, and research.
With over 17 years of experience in providing higher education with strategic information security direction, he holds a Bachelor's of Science degree in Applied Economics from the University of Minnesota. In addition, Kjosa holds a Master's of Science degree in telecommunications from the University of Colorado at Boulder coupled, with a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) credential from the Information System Security Certification Consortium (ISC)2.
Kjosa served seven years in the US Army as a commissioned officer since 1991. Afterwards, he transitioned into corporate life as an analyst in global security operations at Thomson Inc. (formerly RCA Corporation). Following his stint in the military, he held information security positions within the UT System starting in 2003. He began his career with UT as the first Information Security Manager at The University of Texas Health Science Center (UTHSCA) at Tyler. Kjosa has since worked at other UT institutions including UTSA, where he served as the Director of Cyber Security exercises with the Center for Infrastructure Assurance and Security at UTSA.
