Backup and Recovery Services

Servers managed by OIT are backed up Monday through Saturday and are maintained for 2 weeks. Backups of Banner databases are backed up Monday through Sunday and are maintained for 60 days. In addition to that, we also make a copy of Banner backups each week and hold it off-site for six months.

CrashPlan

The CrashPlan service provides up-to-date backups of your individual user’s profile data (including your desktop, your my documents, my pictures, my music and my folders, links, favorites, downloads and contacts) on your “primary workstation” (the computer that you use the most) as identified in the InSight application.

Desktop Storage with CrashPlan

To ensure that your data is not lost, you can back up your computer files using CrashPlan PROe - OIT’s Enterprise Backup Service. I:Drive

The UTSA I: Drive is a central location on the UTSA network that allows faculty and staff members to store business-related documents within their own department under what is known as the “common” drive. Each user has their own individual folder as well that is only accessible by that user.

Mass Storage Setup

OIT can set up centralized storage for a UTSA department's data.

OneDrive for Business Storage Features

OneDrive for Business provides cloud storage for UTSA faculty and staff Category II and III work files. Files are accessible anytime from virtually anywhere with an internet connection.

SharePoint Online Features and Benefits

Microsoft SharePoint Online is UTSA'S collaboration center that allows you to upload, view, and retrieve documents online.
