Position Descriptions
- Office Assistant
Typical Duties:
1. Receives, sorts and distributes mail and incoming
communications.
2. Types and proofreads correspondence, forms, reports,
manuscripts and other materials. Composes routine
correspondence and form letters.
3. Acts as a receptionist; answers the telephone, greets
and screens visitors, and schedules appointments.
4. Performs data entry, coding, deletion and updates.
5. Performs other duties as assigned.
- Administrative Associate
Typical Duties:
1. Composes, types, edits, proofreads and produces in final
form correspondence, forms, reports and other documents.
2. Maintains complex and confidential files for
administrators.
3. Collects data from various sources and analyzes for
accuracy, completeness and relevance. Prepares complex,
statistical, technical, financial, confidential and other
various reports.
4. Supervises clerical staff members. Monitors workload,
determines work priority and evaluates job progress.
5. Performs other duties as assigned.
- General Laborer
Typical Duties:
This position provides various unskilled assistance in the
service and trades areas as necessary. Duties may include
any or all of the following:
1. Helps ensure facilities are operational, performs light
cleaning, trash pick up; cleans equipment and tools.
2. May work outdoors cutting weeds, grass, and shrubs;
trimming trees, and some outside custodial duties.
3. May work in an office/classroom environment, or service
area busing tables, maintaining facilities, custodial work,
and running errands.
4. Works as a team member to move furniture; rearranges
furniture, opens rooms, secures rooms; loads and unloads
furniture and supplies at different locations; sets up
tables and chairs.
5. Arranges supplies on stockroom shelves and periodic
inventory duties.
6. Performs other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions: Work may be inside or outside. Must be
able to lift up to 40 pounds with or without reasonable
accommodations.
- Accounting Clerk
Typical Duties:
1. Responsible for conducting various accounting procedures
including accounts payable, credit card payments and
processing fund transfers.
2. Performs other duties as assigned.
Hiring for Temporary Employment
Procedures for Hiring Temporary Agency Employee at UTSA
- The requesting department contacts Sandra Hernandez at Human Resources (458-4257) for the correct Temporary Agency name, the rate of pay, and appropriate title needed to fill the position
- If the amount is over $5000 dollars a PB4 needs to be created and approved by Purchasing.
- If the amount is under $5000 dollars the requesting department prepares a PB0 with the signature of the authorized signer for the account.
- Human Resources places the order with the Temporary Agency once a PO number has been established and submitted to HR.
Please Note: HR cannot place the order until the Purchase Request form has been assigned a Purchase Order number (2006xxxxxx) and a final approved Purchase Order. All outside temporary requests must go through the Human Resources Department.
