The stage is being set up outside the Convocation Center, the carnival company has arrived and the booths are being prepared. I can see golf carts in the distance. The fireworks vendor is packing supplies. I am visiting with Alumni over a fun round of golf. Throughout the week, we served our community, laughed at great comedy, and witnessed incredible talent at Roadrunners Live. This — is Homecoming week at UTSA.
I have to be honest that it is one of my favorite times of year. There is something incredible about our students, alumni, families and community members embracing our traditions together. In my mind, BestFest is more than just great family entertainment; it is an important gathering of Roadrunner Nation to remind our students, alumni and fans that UTSA knows how to do it big. I get so excited every time I think about it. Our student organizations benefit greatly and, as the event grows, it will raise scholarship dollars for our students. I am grateful for the hard work and dedication of the many staff members who work to make these events happen. I am also very appreciative for each and every staff member who is taking the time to volunteer. We couldn’t do it without you. It is important to remember that, through events all over campus, we are highlighting our support for students socially, academically and personally.
Roadrunner Nation is ready to cheer on the Roadrunners at Volleyball tonight and Football tomorrow. All of this and BestFest, too. I hope to see you all there! Cheer loud, show your spirit – support our Roadrunners!
