Dr. Pedro Reyes wants to meet with more UTSA students, faculty and staff.

(April 12, 2017) -- The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) community is invited to enjoy a morning cup of joe alongside Interim President Pedro Reyes. Following two successful 'Coffee with the President' events, Reyes is hosting a third at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 25 in the Applied Engineering and Technology Building
(AET 1.100 C).

Reyes held the first 'Coffee with the President' last month on the Main Campus and a second earlier this month at the Downtown Campus. During the casual events, the UTSA community asked the interim president questions and shared ideas to advance the university. Reyes spoke about UTSA's student success initiatives, graduation and retention rates, top-tier research programs and the current legislative session. He also shared insight about his first few weeks at UTSA and his professional experience prior to joining UTSA.

Seating is limited to the first 50 guests, and the president's office will provide complimentary coffee.

Attendees should RSVP to the event listed on Dr. Reyes' Facebook page.

Reyes plans to hold the 'Coffee with the President' series every few weeks. Look for schedule updates on Facebook and on UTSA Today.

Reyes was named Interim President of UTSA on March 3. He will hold the position until a new permanent president is named, prior to the start of the fall 2017 semester.

Reyes brings more than 30 years of higher education experience to UTSA. He's served as the Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at The University of Texas (UT) System and as Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Planning and Assessment at the UT System, Office of Academic Affairs. He also was Associate Dean of Graduate Studies and Professor of Education Policy and Administration at The University of Texas at Austin.

Reyes is passionate about education policy. He's also raised more than 22 million dollars in research development grants from numerous foundations and authored several books.

UTSA is ranked among the top 400 universities in the world and among the top 100 in the nation, according to Times Higher Education.
