Herbert Ganey joined the UTSA family and became the University Center's Business Manager in January 2008. He is responsible for managing the finances of the University Center and human resources related issues for professional staff. Before coming to UTSA, Herbert was in the Finance Office at St. Mary's University and was also a Business Manager for the New Orleans Public School system. Herbert holds a bachelor's degree in Accounting and plans to earn his master's degree from UTSA.
Annie Maynes ("Hollywood") began working at UTSA on temporary assignment to the SACS COC reaffirmation site visit in 2000. She spent two years working in the Student Life office and the last seven years providing administrative support to University Center staff. Annie's working experience includes ten years experience at The National Conference for Community and Justice in Los Angeles, several years at the University of Southern California Law Center Alumni Affairs office and at an international publishing house in New York City.
Annie and her life partner Sharon, were married in September 2008, and share their lives with their five adopted/rescued kitties: Heifer, Bitty-Kitty, Cornflaker, Little Guy, and Freddie.
Judy supports departmental staff and Web sites for all of Student Life and has extensive freelance Web and corporate design work. She worked at Palo Alto College before starting at UTSA in 2008.
She holds a bachelor of Science in Interactive Media Design from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and an MFA in Media design from Full Sail University.
In her spare time, Judy enjoys being vague as much as she enjoys doing other things.
DeShanna Rider first joined UTSA in 2013 as a Disbursements and Travel Services Supervisor. She was excited to move over to the University Center in 2015, as the Business Manager, in order to get more involved in student development and support. She previously worked for 16 years as a manager and trainer in the hospitality industry. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Wayland Baptist University. She is currently pursuing her MBA in Management for Wayland Baptist University. Her four daughters keep her busy but she loves spending time out doors with her family and friends.
Nikki Lee: Senior Associate Director of Events Management
I joined the University Center in 2007 for the exciting connection to student life and enjoy working in an environment where every day is different! I strive to be a 360º leader with a commitment to a team approach. I received my M.Ed from UTSA in Higher Education Administration and my B.A. from the University of the Incarnate Word. I love traveling with my family and dogs. I enjoy reading and anything creative. My favorite quote is from Walt Disney: "The way to get started is to quit talking and start doing."
Laura Rivas: Assistant Director of Events Management & Conference Services
With more than 17 years in events management, Laura has had the privilege of developing and executing high-profile events for a number of notable non-profit, local and state institutions. Her favorite part of working at UTSA is training and developing student staff, providing them with valuable practical experience that they can use anywhere. A native of San Antonio, Laura holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas.
Andrea joined the University Center team in 2008 after spending many years in the hospitality industry managing events for a local theme park. She holds her Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from UTSA and was thrilled to return to her alma mater. Andrea enjoys working with the UTSA community to make their event visions a reality. She is a native San Antonian who loves spending time with her family, traveling and supporting the San Antonio Spurs.
Doyle joined the University Center team in 2015. He is a proud UTSA alumnus receiving his Bachelor of Arts in Communications Studies in 2013. In 2014, he received his MEd. in Adult Education & Community Leadership from Armstrong State University in Savannah Georgia. During his studies, he has gained more than 5 years of work experience in higher education and developed a passion for student development and event coordination. During his free time, Doyle enjoys listening to educational podcasts, video games, and spending time with his family.
Orlando Cantu: Supervisor of UC Multimedia Services
Orlando Anthony Cantu serves the University Center as Supervisor of UC Multimedia Services. Orlando brings over 10 years of extensive experience and management skills in the live production industry. Orlando has also worked with elementary aged students in the public education system. He aims to help grow and expand our University Center to make student life at UTSA even more rewarding for students. When Orlando is not engaging with colleagues and students he enjoys spending time with his family, reading non-fiction and staying up to date with world policy.
Robbie joined the UC Team in 2009. He has held various positions from Building Supervisor, Multimedia Technician to currently Interim Building Manager. Prior to coming to UTSA, Robbie was a US Army Musician with over 20 years of instrumental and live audio/video experience before retiring here, a native of San Antonio. Robbie still enjoys performing live music on bass in a local rock band and strives to stay healthy and active with running and cycling.
Elizabeth Rockstroh: Associate Director of Communications & Programs
Liz Rockstroh joined the University Center team as the Associate Director of Communications and Programs in March of 2017. She brings with her over 10 years of experience working in Student Affairs at colleges and universities in California and Texas. Liz is passionate about cultivating opportunities for student learning and success through an engaging campus experience. Liz holds a doctorate degree in Educational Leadership from The University of California at Davis. Outside of work, Liz enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with her family.
Tabitha holds a bachelor's of science degree in psychology from the University of Houston-Clear Lake. She initially pursued studies in Marine Biology from Texas A&M University-Galveston, but quickly developed a passion for Student Affairs and changed fields to enjoy the energy she gets working with students.
Tabitha began working at UTSA in July 2008 as the first Assistant Director for Programs in the University Center. With over 8 years of experience in Student Affairs, she has been involved with a variety of student programs such as peer advising, orientation, student organizations, commencement, Student Government Association and financial aid. Her current responsibilities include creating consistent social University Center activities that enhance the students' experience outside of the classroom. She also advises the newly formed University Center Program Council –a student organization dedicated to providing quality programs in the University Center.
Her "children" include a dog, two cats, a turtle and a snake. Although not real children, they certainly deserve to be given the title.
