The creation of the AT&T Distinguished Chair in Infrastructure Assurance and Security was launched by former AT&T Senior Executive Vice President and UTSA’s Carlos Alvarez College of Business Advisory Council Chair Jim Kahan. Funding was also provided by Richard T. and Katharine Schlosberg and Graham Weston.

The AT&T Inc. Endowed Distinguished Chair in Infrastructure Assurance and Security

Professor, Information Systems and Cyber Security

A leading scholar in information assurance, H. Raghav Rao joined UTSA in 2016 to contribute to the university’s nationally-ranked program in cyber security. He holds faculty positions in both the Department of Information Systems and Cyber Security and in the Department of Computer Science. 

Rao’s research interests are in the areas of management information systems, decision support systems, e-business, emergency response management systems and information assurance.  

He has co-edited four books and authored or co-authored more than 200 technical papers, of which more than 125 are published in archival journals. In addition, he serves as co-editor-in-chief of Information Systems Frontiers, a Springer journal that takes a multidisciplinary approach to examining new research and innovation at the interface of information systems and technology. 

His research has been supported by the National Science Foundation, the Department of Defense and the Canadian Embassy. In addition, he has been recognized nationally and internationally for his outstanding contributions to the field by the prestigious Information Systems Society Distinguished Fellow Award and the International Federation for Information Processing Outstanding Service Award. He was named a Fulbright specialist in 2020. 

Prior to joining UTSA’s faculty, he served as a SUNY Distinguished Service Professor at the University of Buffalo. He received his Ph.D. from the Krannert Graduate School at Purdue University. In addition, Rao is a graduate of the FBI Citizens Academy.
