Hamid Beladi is an international economics and finance scholar. He has published over 300 articles in high quality and leading academic journals, focusing on the economics of migration of skilled and unskilled labor, international trade in technology, global outsourcing and bi-sourcing, exchange rate pass-through and fraudulent financial practices. He has also coedited twenty research volumes in his field. In 2022, Beladi was honored with the title of Honorary Distinguished Chair Professor by Feng Chia University in Taiwan.

Beladi is the co-founder of the International Review of Economics and Finance (Elsevier) and served as its founding editor from 1992-2018. He was the editor-in-chief of the North American Journal of Economics and Finance (Elsevier) from 2010-2024. He currently serves as editor-in-chief of the Finance Research Open (Elsevier), series editor of Frontiers of Economics and Globalization, associate editor of Review of International Economics and serves on various editorial boards. Beladi is also a co-founder of the International Economics and Finance Society.

Beladi has published extensively in a wide spectrum of scholarly academic journals including Journal of International Economics, Review of International Economics, Journal of Banking and Finance, Review of Economics & Statistics, Journal of Economic Theory, Journal of Development Economics, Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization, Journal of Mathematical Economics, Public Choice, Review of Development Economics, Research Policy, Economica and European Economic Review.

Prior to joining the UT San Antonio faculty in 2005, he was at North Dakota State University.
