The Loretta J. Lowak Clarke Distinguished Professorship in Health and Kinesiology was established in 2005. This endowed position is one of many funded by Dr. Loretta and Mr. Jeffrey Clarke. Both Loretta and Jeffrey are first-generation UTSA alumni. The Clarkes have consistently demonstrated their faith in UTSA’s mission and ability to make a significant positive impact on the lives of educators and health professionals.

Loretta J. Lowak Clarke Distinguished Professorship in Health and Kinesiology

Professor, Kinesiology

Zenong Yin teaches both undergraduate and graduate classes in health and kinesiology, and conducts research on school- and community-based physical activity and nutrition interventions for the prevention of obesity and type 2 diabetes in low-income and minority children and adults.

He has published more than 70 peer reviewed articles and given over 200 professional research presentations in public health, education, and sports and exercise psychology since 1991.

Prior to joining UTSA, Yin was a Professor of Pediatrics in the Department of Pediatrics-Georgia Prevention Institute, the Medical College of Georgia from 2001 to 2005. He earned his BEd-Physical Education at Beijing Sports University and received his MA in Physical Education with a specialization in the administration of physical education and sports. He holds a Ph.D. in physical education with a specialization in sports psychology from the University of Southern California.
