Biography:

Laura Buchhorn has worked in the Office of Auditing and Consulting Services at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) since August 2005 and currently serves as the Audit Director. Laura is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), and Certified Government Auditing Professional (CGAP). Laura also holds a Certification in Control Self-Assessment (CCSA) and a Certification in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA). Before working at UTSA, she worked as an External Auditor for PricewaterhouseCoopers. Laura received her Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and Master in Professional Accounting (MPA) from the University of Texas at Austin.

Laura is currently serving as the President of the Association of College and University Auditors (ACUA). Laura previously served as Vice President and Board Member at Large.  In her three years as a Board Member at Large, she was the liaison to the Membership Committee, Professional Education Committee, Recognition Committee, and the Nominations Committee. Highlights of her time on the board include strategic planning, onboarding a new management company, a website redesign, and membership enhancements.  Laura previously served ACUA as the Midyear Conference Director, Co-Chair of the ACUA Risk Dictionary Committee, Conference Speaker, Proctor, and Track Coordinator. Laura was also a member of the ACUA Leads program. In 2016, Laura received the ACUA Member Excellence in Service Award for her dedicated service to ACUA.
