UTSA photo of the day: UTSA trains construction students using state-of-the-art visualization hardware & software
(July 30, 2015) — The UTSA Department of Construction Science, housed in the College of Architecture, Construction and Planning, is training the next generation of construction management professionals. The Bartlett Cocke General Contractors Teaching and Research Laboratory, located at the Downtown Campus, is just one way the department is making sure its students stay ahead of the curve.
Established in 2014, the large, two-room laboratory / classroom was funded by a generous gift from Bartlett Cocke General Contractors, a long time supporter of UTSA. It is filled with state-of-the-art tools, like the 15-foot interactive projector system pictured here, that help students learn innovative virtual design and construction techniques right in the classroom. It is composed of two unique spaces that feature cutting-edge computer displays and software designed to accurately and realistically model each stage of a building’s life cycle, from planning to construction, before the physical construction even begins.
