UTSA to accept peanut butter donations as payment for parking citations
(Aug. 24, 2015) -- It's peanut butter parking time. UTSA Business Auxiliary Services (BAS), in partnership with the Student Government Association (SGA), will accept donations of peanut butter as a form of payment for eligible parking citations issued between Monday, August 24 and Friday, August 28.
Donations received during the Peanut Butter Parking Campaign will be delivered to the San Antonio Food Bank to help fight hunger in southwest Texas. Peanut butter is consistently among the most wanted items at the food bank, due to its long shelf life, high level of protein and popularity among customers.
The amount of peanut butter required to cover each eligible citation depends on the type of citation a driver receives. The following types of citations, issued August 24-28, are eligible for peanut butter payments:
• Parking without a Permit: $100
Peanut Butter Payment: 80 oz. or more
• Parking without a Proper Permit: $50
Peanut Butter Payment: 40 oz. or more
All other types of citations are subject to standard payment and procedures. Note that appealing the citation forfeits the opportunity to pay with peanut butter. Peanut butter payments must be received within 14 calendar days of the citation date; otherwise standard payment is due along with the standard $10 late fee. Note that peanut butter payments are only valid for one citation per customer.
During the first week of classes, warning cards were issued in place of citations to help educate the campus community regarding proper parking.
To submit your donation, bring your eligible citation and peanut butter payment to BAS offices in MS 1.01.52 on the Main Campus or in FS 1.506 on the Downtown Campus during standard business hours: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
