UTSA ranked first in enrollment among San Antonio colleges and universities
(Nov. 19, 2015) -- The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) has been ranked first in enrollment among San Antonio higher education institutions, according to the San Antonio Business Journal.
The publication also ranked UTSA as number one for graduate degree enrollment, with 4,325 students. UTSA educates almost half of the nearly 9,380 graduate students in the San Antonio area. All other institutions that appeared on the list had less than 2,000.
The publication’s rankings are based on enrollment data submitted in September of this year. Sixteen universities and colleges were ranked, but UTSA was only one of two four-year schools in the top five, as well as the only public university.
With nearly 29,000 current students and more than 107,000 graduates, UTSA is home to several nationally ranked, top-tier programs, including the nation’s no. 1 cybersecurity program. UTSA also has been named seventh in the nation in bachelor’s degrees awarded to Hispanics by Diverse: Issues in Higher Education. It is one of the best higher education institutions for veterans according to Military Times and Victory Media Inc.
This year alone, researchers at UTSA were recognized by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to create information cybersecurity sharing standards and by the U.S. Department of Agriculture in establishing San Antonio as a manufacturing community.
UTSA currently offers more than 150 bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degree programs in various disciplines across the Colleges of Architecture, Construction and Planning, Business, Education and Human Development, Engineering, Liberal and Fine Arts, Public Policy and Sciences as well as the Honors College, University College and Graduate School.
