Welcome back! Classes resume today, Jan. 11, at the UTSA campuses
(Jan. 11, 2016) --Spring classes begin today at The University of Texas at San Antonio, and nearly 29,000 students will be back on campus after the winter break.
Additionally, nearly 1,300 faculty members and more than 3,500 staff members have returned to help guide UTSA students through their academic careers in the classroom and with numerous support services. UTSA provides opportunities to excellence for a diverse group of students.
UTSA’s rich traditions, campus amenities and location in the nation’s seventh-largest city offer a vibrant environment for students.
The university offers more than 350 officially registered student organizations including student government, academic clubs, social and professional organizations, fraternities and sororities, cultural groups and service groups at its Main and Downtown Campuses. UTSA colleges and offices also host a variety of free programs and events for students at both campuses. Additionally, UTSA students can show their ID to receive free admission to all home athletics events and to the Institute of Texan Cultures.
The University Center provides entertainment that allows students to make new friends and participate in campus traditions. Activities include Roadrunners Late Night programs, live music, free food, games and contests. Each week, students also can watch new movies in the University Center Retama Room (UC 2.02.02) before they hit DVD and Blu-Ray.
Students can take advantage of Campus Recreation facilities at the Main and Downtown campuses to maintain their fitness and health. Additionally, Student Health Services has clinics at both campuses to provide wellness programs and care. Students also can count on the Tomás Rivera Center for Student Success for support in their academic endeavors.
The start of the new semester also brings wonderful new opportunities for service-minded students, faculty, staff and alumni. Last year, more than 13,000 students and more than 3,000 faculty and staff provided services and programs to more than 700,000 people across Texas’ south-central region.
