Attend the Involvement Fair to discover your path at UTSA

Attend the Involvement Fair to discover your path at UTSA

(Aug. 25, 2017) -- As a student, it’s important to have an outlet after writing that 15-page essay or presenting an intense project in front of classmates. Students also want to have memorable and fun experiences outside the classroom.

Joining student organizations is one way to discover where you fit in, connect with the campus community and grow into the person you envisioned. Roadrunners can learn about some of UTSA’s 360-plus student organizations at the Involvement Fair from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday, August 29 in Sombrilla Plaza on the Main Campus.

The Involvement Fair is a one-stop shop for Roadrunners looking to get involved. Members of most UTSA student organizations will be on hand in one location to share information and answer any questions you may have.

“It is a snapshot of various ways students can get involved and where they are going to find their niche in terms of activities on campus,” says Daphne Wells, UTSA associate director of student activities.

There is something for everyone at UTSA. Interested in rock climbing? We have a club for that! What about learning how to “adult”? Check out the Life Skills for Students organization. They can talk to you about personal finance, filing taxes and even car maintenance. Learn about a different culture by joining the Chinese Language and Culture Club, or the Hispanic Student Association. For those who are animal lovers, you can even join the Animal Rights Club. You can even find out how to create your own club.

“This event is an opportunity for students to discover their place in the overall landscape of UTSA,” Wells said. “Being a part of campus activities helps students build stronger resumes and shows employers that they are versatile.”

Want to help plan campus events like Fiesta UTSA? Roadrunner Productions give students the tools to be able to successfully plan events and execute programs. Their goal is to help students develop long-lasting skills that will add to your academic experiences at UTSA and can benefit you after you graduate.

For the sports fans out there, Rowdy Crew brings our sporting events to life and educates Roadrunners about what it means to be a true fan. Being a part of the Rowdy Crew means being surrounded by energetic and friendly students who spread athletic awareness on and off campus.

More interested in helping others? Volunteer Organization Involving Community, Education and Service (Voices) is a club that focuses on connecting UTSA students with the community. Members plan projects throughout the year and commute all over San Antonio to volunteer for organizations like the SA Foodbank, San Antonio Youth, and more. Their goal is to listen to the communities needs and take action.

This is just a small sample of the student organizations Roadrunners can join at UTSA. Come to the Sombrilla on August 29 to find the perfect place for you to get involved.

I’ll see you there.

Regina Puente,
UTSA Senior
