UTSA Alumni Association President Phillip Morales '08 and UTSA Student Government Association President Brittany Ashley Garcia share a special message about UTSA Homecoming.
(Oct. 12, 2018) -- Dear Roadrunners,
Homecoming is a special time on the UTSA calendar. It signals to more than 122,000 alumni worldwide and the more than 32,000 students on campus a time to come together to celebrate our spirit, pride and traditions.
As a community, what has always stood out—what we have always been proud of—is being a family. We have always cultivated an atmosphere where regardless of our background we feel pride in being part of something bigger than ourselves. It started when almost 50 years ago early students took a chance on a fledgling university. It continued when the UTSA Alumni Association was founded in 1978 to award scholarships to students, ultimately strengthening the bonds between the past and future. And that remains true today—we are proud to be Roadrunners!
The common bonds of our Roadrunner family—a common spirit that by working together we can challenge the status quo, a common pride in providing opportunity for everyone regardless of background, and a common tradition of celebrating each person’s contributions to our community—that is what we celebrate with Homecoming. Let’s use this time to come together to honor what makes our university unique—each other.
We hope you will find an opportunity this week to attend BestFest, a tailgate, or the game—to join with your fellow Roadrunners to show each other that we are a family that cares about and supports each other!
GO ‘RUNNERS!
