Oct. 16, 2019 — Editor's Note: UTSA Director of Equal Opportunity Services/Title IX Coordinator Suzanne Patrick sent this email to UTSA faculty, staff and students today.
Dear Roadrunners,
As part of our ongoing commitment to transparency and raising our community’s awareness about matters of sexual assault, harassment and misconduct, I am writing to share UTSA’s inaugural Title IX Annual Report.
This report provides data from student-related investigations handled by the Equal Opportunity Services (EOS)/Title IX Office during the 2018–2019 fiscal year.
Among the report’s highlights:
I’d also like to bring to your attention an important bill passed by the Texas State Legislature this year that went into effect on Sept. 1, 2019. SB 212 requires all university employees to report incidents of sexual misconduct to the Title IX Coordinator. More information on SB 212 is included in this year’s compliance training for all faculty and staff.
To further President Eighmy’s strong commitment to an environment free from sexual misconduct, I am very pleased to announce that UTSA is launching a new EOS/Title IX presence at the Downtown Campus. This office will open on Nov. 1, 2019, and will be located in the Frio Street Building (FS 2.422).
UTSA’s commitment to creating an environment where all Roadrunners have a safe place to study, work and live requires ongoing focus and the support of all of you—our Roadrunner community. Thank you for your mindfulness around these important matters.
Sincerely,
Suzanne Patrick
Director of Equal Opportunity Services & Title IX Coordinator
