NOVEMBER 5, 2020 — Students, alumni, faculty and staff come together virtually to celebrate the spirit, tradition and pride of being a Roadrunner during Homecoming Week. More than a dozen activities, programs and events get started this week, on Friday, November 6, capping off with the football game against the UTEP Miners on Saturday, November 14 at 2 p.m. at the Alamodome.
Homecoming Week will look a little different this year, with the majority of events being held virtually, but one thing remains: Roadrunner Nation will have plenty of ways to show school spirit and get engaged.
Rowdython
Monday to Saturday (November 9–14)
Roadrunner Productions and Alumni Association will host Rowdython, a weeklong event that gives student organizations an opportunity to fundraise for their groups or for a cause. A Rowdython Trivia Challenge will kick off the week on November 9. This will include a UTSA-themed trivia round. All donations of $20 or more will receive an official student-designed RowdyThon T-shirt.
Set the Expectation Awareness Week
Monday to Saturday (November 9–14)
In partnership with Brenda Tracy, sexual assault survivor, public speaker and founder of the national campaign and nonprofit, #SetTheExpectation, UTSA will hold #SetTheExpectation Awareness Week for the second straight year.
Mr. and Ms. UTSA Voting
Tuesday & Wednesday (November 10–11)
Vote for the next students who embody the spirit of UTSA while striving for the highest levels of academic achievement, campus involvement and community service. The top two candidates will demonstrate that they embody the Roadrunner Creed in their daily actions on campus. Winners will be announced during halftime of the Homecoming football game on Saturday.
All day | National First-Generation College Celebration
The First Generation and Transfer Student Center will be celebrating the more than 45% of UTSA’s undergraduates who are the first in their families to work toward earning a college degree. First-gen students are encouraged to post photos on Instagram, Twitter and Kudoboard using the hashtag #FirstGenCollegeCelebration and tagging @UTSA_FGTSC.
All day | Mentor Monday and Social Media Campaign
University departments and colleges will celebrate being first-gen on social media using the hashtag #MyFirstGenStory and #FirstGenUTSA and tagging @UTSA_FGTSC on Kudoboard, Instagram and Twitter.
3 p.m. | First-Gen Professionals Panel: Navigating the Job Market during COVID-19
First-gen representatives from several industry organizations will share tips for applying internships and jobs in addition to exploring career opportunities.
6 p.m. | Rowdy Reunion Mentoring
The Roadrunner Student Alumni Association will host this opportunity for Roadrunners to network with notable alumni. Topics will include leadership skills, life after graduation, promoting student success and career readiness. Sign up on RowdyLink.
8 p.m. | RowdyThon Trivia Challenge
Part of the weeklong student organization fundraising event, the night’s activities will include a UTSA-themed trivia round, ’Runners Runway submission reel messages from student organizations and an opportunity to win $300 worth of prizes.
All day | Thanks Day
This all-day social media event is a way to show gratitude to those who support Roadrunners. Alumni, friends, faculty, staff and student donors provide scholarships, support programming initiatives, athletics and valuable research. Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to share a thank you message on social media using the hashtag #UTSAThanksDay. The Roadrunner Student Alumni Association will be sharing giveaway opportunities on social media throughout the day at @UTSARSAA.
11 a.m. | Virtual Involvement Fair
Get involved and learn about the more than 350 UTSA Student Organizations and join the ones that interest you. Sign up through RowdyLink.
7 p.m. | Runners Unite, Take Back the Night!
The PEACE Center and the Women’s Studies Institute will cohost the annual Take Back the Night live webinar event. Join in solidarity for a night of music, poetry and history to support survivors and advocates in the fight to end violence.
All day | Game Week Wednesday
Get into the fall spirit during the Student-Athlete Baking Showdown, a pumpkin pie bake-off. Follow @UTSARowdyCrew to vote on your favorite pumpkin pie made by student-athletes. Bakers also can submit a photo of their pumpkin pie by posting a picture on Instagram or Twitter with #UTSABakingShowdown for a chance to win prizes.
4 p.m. | Self-Care Wednesday
Take a break and join fellow Roadrunners for a moment of relaxation and self-care with a mini guided yoga session.
7 p.m. | Coach Traylor Radio Show
Head football coach Jeff Traylor will join host Andy Everett, the Voice of the Roadrunners, for this one-hour radio show. Fans can call 210-736-9760 with questions. The show will be carried live in the San Antonio area on Ticket 760 AM and can be heard online at goUTSA.com and Ticket760.com and everywhere fans want to listen via the free iHeartRadio app or via TuneIn. Fans also can watch the show on Facebook Live via the UTSA Athletics page.
7 p.m. | An Evening With…Some Famous Comedians
Roadrunners come together for an evening of fun, laughs and discussions with nationally known comedians and actors. These comedians will sit down virtually with the UTSA community to discuss current events, crack jokes and chat.
4 p.m. | Beyond the Bachelor’s: The Graduate Application Process
This event will help families, first-generation graduate students and working graduates know what to expect in the application process. First Generation and Transfer Student Center staff will discuss graduate education offerings and the application process at UTSA.
5:30 p.m. | Mental Health Jeopardy
The Student Government Association and Student Health Services will host a mental health jeopardy homecoming event. Students can learn about mental health and how to conquer the quarantine blues.
All day | UTSA Spirit Day
Show off your spirit by posting a photo in your UTSA gear. Tag @UTSACSO and the Council of Student Organizations on Facebook. Wear blue or orange to Campus Rec and get a free UTSA shirt while supplies last.
7 p.m. | Homecoming Concert
Homecoming wouldn’t be complete without a chance to come together and rock. Join the Office of Student Activities for this annual concert experience, featuring Tyson Ritter of All-American Rejects.
2 p.m. | Homecoming Game
Come cheer on the Roadrunners in the Alamodome as they face the UTEP Miners and see the crowning of Mr. and Ms. UTSA 2020.

Covidence is a systematic & scoping review tool used to streamline the process of screening and reviewing articles. Using this software, research teams can easily import studies, perform automatic deduplication, and extract data using templates. This workshop will show attendees how to start a review in Covidence, add collaborators, and get started on screening.
Virtual (Zoom)In this workshop, attendees will be introduced to Pandas, a Python tool for working with data easily. It makes it simple to organize and analyze information when data is organized and categorized, like spreadsheets or tables.
Group Spot B, John Peace LibraryEach fall and spring semester, students convene at the Main Campus at UTSA with booths, ideas and prototypes. A crowd of judges, local organizations, students, faculty and sponsors walk around and talk to the students about their projects and ask questions. Students get the real-life experience of "pitching" their project with hopes of getting funding or support to move to the next level.
