UTSA provides update COVID-19 vaccine eligibility expansion and opportunities

UTSA provides update COVID-19 vaccine eligibility expansion and opportunities

MARCH 29, 2021Editor’s note: The following message was sent via email today from Recovery Operations to all faculty, staff and students:

Beginning today everyone who is 16 and older in Texas is eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. In light of this excellent news we are pleased to share that all Roadrunners who are interested can take advantage of vaccine appointment opportunities.

Getting vaccinated is a great way to do your part to protect your health and the health of our community. A variety of appointment opportunities are available to Roadrunners:

UTSA On-Campus Vaccine Clinics

UTSA will continue to diligently explore vaccine opportunities for our Roadrunner community, including requesting vaccine allocations from the state. At this time we plan to continue serving as a closed vaccine distribution site, with plans to host future on-campus vaccine clinics.

Over the next few weeks we anticipate that demand for vaccines will likely continue to be greater than the available supply here in San Antonio. By the end of April or early May we anticipate the availability of supply will substantially increase. Updates on availability, including opportunities for on-campus vaccine clinics, will be included in UTSA This Week, the digest email you receive each Monday. You can also visit our COVID-19 Vaccine web page to stay in the know.

UT Health San Antonio

Our ongoing partnership with UT Health San Antonio provides additional opportunities for vaccine appointments. Find out how to access your UT Health account.

There are currently a limited number of appointments available for the UTSA community. Once these appointments are filled, we anticipate that more will open up later in April. We will keep you updated as we receive more information.

State and Local Vaccine Providers

As the statewide vaccine rollout continues, many additional vaccine providers are now offering appointments. Today the state launched the Texas Public Health Vaccine Scheduler to help Texans get scheduled for a COVID-19 vaccine at clinics hosted by participating Texas public health entities. Visit our COVID-19 vaccine web page for more information on local, state and national vaccine resources.

While we must continue to navigate the challenges of this pandemic, these vaccines are an important step forward. We are in this together, and we will get through it together. Meanwhile, keep your birds up, masks on and stay strong, ’Runners!
