University opens application process for fall 2022 undergraduate cohort

University opens application process for fall 2022 undergraduate cohort

AUGUST 24, 2021 — The University of Texas at San Antonio has begun the application process for fall 2022, opening up new opportunities for freshmen and transfer students to be a part of a nationally-ranked institution that is committed to solving society’s grand challenges.

UTSA has cultivated a reputation of innovation and dedication to its community. It is an award-winning institution, and is ranked among the top 10 in the nation for bilingual, multilingual, and multicultural education for Hispanic students. UTSA has also been honored numerous times—most recently in 2021—as a Best for Vets College by Military Times.

UTSA seeks driven students who will take initiative in creating their “Bold Future”—students who are ready to be among the in-demand workforce of today and tomorrow, and are excited to contribute to the pioneering research that is solving the world’s greatest challenges.

That “Bold Future” starts with an application to the university. The earlier the better. Students who turn in their applications early are given their admission decision earlier, which gives those students more time to prepare for their first semester.

Early applicants also have access to more financial aid opportunities. UTSA offers merit-based scholarships, such as the Distinguished Presidential and Distinguished Transfer Scholarships, for new applicants with exceptional academic achievement. For students who qualify, there is also the UTSA Bold Promise program, which covers full tuition and fees for the fall and spring semesters for four years, as long as they continue to meet requirements.

Students are also encouraged to apply for financial aid by completing the FAFSA, which opens on October 1. Again, an early submittal is the best way for potential students to maximize their financial aid offers. Students can even submit their FAFSA before completing their UTSA application, though they must list UTSA as one of the schools on their application.

Starting this fall, first-time freshmen will also need to submit a Self-Reported Academic Record (SRAR) in place of an official sixth-semester high school transcript. With the SRAR, students can self-report their courses, grades, class rank, and other academic information, which allows them the chance to complete their UTSA application faster without needing to wait on a transcript to be sent from the high school and processed.

Transfer students also have access to additional resources such as UTSA’s Transfer Credit Calculator. Transfer students can use this tool to check which credits from their previous institution will transfer to UTSA. The Transfer Credit Calculator, information on UTSA’s transfer requirements, and more can be found on the Future Roadrunner transfer page.

At UTSA, there are a wide range of academic programs for students to choose from, which are curated by award-winning faculty. These curricula include experiential learning programs, which offer hands-on, engaging experiences that prepare students for the professional world before graduation.

Future Roadrunners are encouraged to explore UTSA majors for more detailed information on offered degree programs. UTSA also urges students to schedule a campus tour to see first-hand what the university has to offer.

There are also UTSA admissions counselors available to applicants to answer questions, provide resources, and guide future Roadrunners through the admissions process.

In addition, UTSA offers a variety of events to help prospective students learn what the university has to offer and how they can apply, such as Information Sessions and UTSA Day.

Prospective students can now use the ApplyTexas or CommonApp application to apply to UTSA for the fall 2022 semester. SAT and ACT score admission requirements for UTSA are waived until summer 2023, but students are still encouraged to submit them if possible.
