Prospective college students fill out their applications from UTSA's new Mobile Go Center.
MARCH 6, 2024 — The UTSA Strategic Enrollment team is gearing up for a dynamic initiative this spring to support students in their fall college application journey.
The innovative Mobile Go Center, a state-of-the-art computer lab on wheels, will traverse the city throughout March and April to empower prospective college students and their families. The focus is on assisting them in preparing applications for admission and navigating the intricacies of financial aid applications.
One key aspect of the initiative is to shed light on the importance of completing the newly updated Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form. The U.S. Department of Education has revamped the college financial aid forms for the 2024-2025 academic year, and UTSA is actively monitoring and disseminating the latest updates on its Financial Aid website.
“As part of UTSA’s commitment to making high-quality education accessible for our community, we are committed to helping families of prospective and current students understand these changes,” stated Erika Cox, assistant vice provost and executive director of financial aid. “In addition to the Mobile Go Center site visits, we also have organized workshops on campus for current students who may need assistance in completing their FAFSA or Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA) applications this year.”

The UTSA Mobile Go Center will set up at selected sites in San Antonio, including at high schools and at Alamo Community Colleges campuses across the community. The collaborative effort is poised to complement existing initiatives by school districts, community colleges and community organizations, collectively encouraging students to complete college admission and financial aid applications.
“This additional community outreach will add to the good work that our partners are already doing to help encourage students to complete college admission and financial aid applications,” said Belinda Saldaña Harmon, UTSA senior director of community outreach and transfer recruitment. “San Antonio-area high schools and community colleges interested in bringing the Mobile Go Center to their location can request a visit, extending the benefits of personalized application assistance to the students they serve, or they can contact us directly for more information.”
In the past couple of weeks, Harmon noted, the Mobile Go Center has visited schools including Lanier High School, Clark High School and San Antonio College.
Taylor Cole, senior program coordinator, and additional UTSA representatives will staff the UTSA Mobile Go Center during the upcoming site visits.
The UTSA Mobile Go Center has been funded in part by the Texas Pioneer Foundation and by locally based H-E-B. It is a UTSA Community Outreach initiative designed to increase the number of students enrolled in Texas colleges and universities.
