APRIL 2, 2024 — Editor’s note: The following message was sent today via email from UTSA President Taylor Eighmy and Senior Vice Provost for Student Affairs and Dean of Students LT Robinson to all faculty, staff and students.
Throughout April, we encourage you to focus on building connected communities to help reduce the likelihood of sexual abuse, assault and harassment.
Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) provides an important opportunity to reflect on the issues of sexual violence and its effects on survivors, and UTSA offers various ways for you to connect to resources to promote healing, advocacy and prevention. Below are a few ways to participate:
Engage
UTSA’s Wellbeing Services is leading several Sexual Assault Awareness Month events to encourage learning to create a culture of responsibility and support.
Start By Believing

The Start By Believing campaign invites the community to sign a pledge vowing to believe and support survivors of sexual assault.
RAINN Day
Tuesday, April 9, 11 a.m., Student Union Rowdy Lawn, Main Campus
The RAINN Day campaign invites the community to #LETSGETLOUD as allies in the movement to end sexual violence.
Denim Day
Tuesday, April 9, 11 a.m., Student Union Window Lounge, Main Campus
The Denim Day campaign is a way to support survivors and educate the community about all forms of sexual violence.
Connect
The PEACE Center, under the umbrella of Wellbeing Services, provides confidential advocacy services to all Roadrunners who have experienced issues related to sexual assault, intimate partner/domestic violence, stalking or other sexual misconduct. PEACE Center Advocates provide consultations on reporting options and support to those navigating Title IX institutional and/or other processes. Advocates address the physical, emotional and academic needs of survivors to help them heal and prevent further violence.
Support
There is no better way to be an ally than by being aware and willing to educate others. The Peace Center offers training, prevention and education programs to empower students with support and active practice to maintain a healthy and safe campus environment. In addition to on-campus resources, the PEACE Center’s signature program, Green Dot at UTSA, offers bystander intervention training for the campus community. We encourage our Roadrunner community to learn more.
Thank you all for your continuous efforts to increase awareness and implement prevention measures for those who have experienced issues related to sexual misconduct. We appreciate your work to create a safe and supportive Roadrunner community for all.
