UTSA Cheer and Rowdy earn three top-10 finishes at NCA National Championships

APRIL 22, 2024 — The UTSA Cheer team and Rowdy earned three top-10 national finishes at the NCA National Championships last week in Daytona Beach, Florida.

UTSA placed fourth in the highly competitive All-Girl Advanced Division, finishing just behind Louisville, Oklahoma State and Clemson. The Roadrunners also finished third in the Game Day Division behind only Michigan and BYU. Rowdy placed seventh in the Mascot Division.

“I’m so proud of this program and the continued growth we’ve seen over the last year from all of them,” UTSA head coach Ashley Johnson said. “They are not only exceptional on the competitive mat, but in the classroom and at all athletics events they attend. They cheer for the football, volleyball, men’s & women’s basketball and soccer teams, and some baseball and softball events, throughout the year with smiles on their faces. They are incredible ambassadors for our athletics program and university. I’m so grateful to coach these young women and men. They make me proud as a coach, alumna and community member.”
