JULY 1, 2024 — The online B.B.A. in Cyber Security in the Carlos Alvarez College of Business has been ranked in the top five nationally by Forbes.com as a Best Online Bachelor’s Degree in Cybersecurity for 2024.
The program was selected among the best based on its credibility, affordability, student outcomes, student experience and application process in comparison to 30 accredited, nonprofit colleges offering online cyber security bachelor’s degrees in the United States.
“We’re proud to have our online B.B.A. in Cyber Security program recognized by Forbes,” said Jonathon Halbesleben, dean of the Alvarez College of Business. “Our faculty have created a cutting-edge curriculum where students engage in hands-on learning in a realistic environment that allows them to graduate with a degree where they can make an immediate impact in this industry.”
Forbes selected the program because students learn “to defend organizations from various cyberthreats in flexible asynchronous classes.”
With the 100% online program, students don’t have any on-campus requirements. Taught by faculty in the Alvarez College of Business, the degree program launched in 2017. Offering identical content to the in-person program, students learn about digital forensics, network security, cyber analytics, secure design and malware analysis from top-tier faculty who are experts in the cyber security landscape. Blending technical and theoretical knowledge, the degree program allows students to be well-rounded but also to focus on unique specialty areas.
Forbes was also impressed that UTSA is designated as a Center for Academic Excellence by the National Security Agency and holds accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.
UTSA is one of a few universities nationally — and the only Hispanic Serving Institution — to hold all three National Center of Academic Excellence designations from the National Security Agency and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
