College Entrance Examinations Test Prep Workshops

The Office of K-16 Initiatives and Honors College is offering various test prep workshops through its Community Education and Professional Development Initiative (CEPD), including college entrance examinations such as the SAT and ACT, and graduate and professional school entrance examinations such as the GMAT, GRE, and LSAT.  All test preparation workshops are offered at an affordable rate while providing a thorough experience.  If you are interested in taking any of the preparatory workshops listed below please contact the Office of K-16 Initiatives for further information at manuel.maldonado@utsa.edu. 

The Scholastic Aptitude Test® (SAT®) is required of all students wishing to enter a college or university for the first time.  More information can be found at http://www.collegeboard.com Workshops are offered in two formats:

  • A 6-hour workshop held on one Saturday.  Workshops begin at 8:00am with check-in at 7:45am.  Each workshop is divided into 3 sections.  Each section covers a different section of the SAT® i.e. verbal, quantitative, and writing.  Instructors introduce each section, familiarize students with questions types, and offer suggestions on test strategies and practice problems.  Workshop dates are scheduled at the beginning of each semester.  Cost of this workshop is $50.    

  • A workshop consisting of eight 3-hour classes, held on Mondays is also offered to those students wanting a more in depth program. The workshop covers a different section of the SAT® i.e. verbal, quantitative, and writing.  Students and instructors cover each subject in-depth.  Workshop dates are scheduled at the beginning of each semester.  Cost of this workshop is $150.

The American College Test® (ACT®) is required by some colleges and universities.  Students unsure of which standardized test their perspective school requires should contact that school and ask.  ACT®  workshops are only offered upon request. 

The Graduate Management Admission Test® (GMAT®) is generally taken by those people who are interested in pursuing a graduate management program or other graduate programs that are business related.  One to two workshops are offered per semester.  Each workshop is a series of 8 classes.  Classes meet once a week for eight weeks.   Cost of the workshop is $375; price includes the cost of the book.  More information about the GMAT® test itself can be found at http://www.gmac.com

The Graduate Examination Record (GRE®) is taken by people who are interested in pursuing a graduate program outside of business and management.  Specific graduate programs requiring the GRE® include education, the humanities, or the arts.  Students unsure of which standardized test their program will require should contact their perspective universities graduate college or program college and ask.  One to two workshops are offered per semester.  Each workshop is a series of 8 classes.  Classes meet once a week for eight weeks.   Cost of the workshop is $375; price includes the cost of the book.  More information about the GRE® test itself can be found at http://www.ets.org or http://www.gre.com .

The Law School Admission Test® (LSAT®) is a half-day standardized test required for admission to law schools that are members of the Law School Admissions Council (LSAC).  One to two workshops are offered per semester.  Each workshop is a series of 8 classes.  Classes meet once a week for eight weeks.  Cost of the workshop is $375; price includes the cost of the book.  More information about the LSAT® test itself can be found at http://www.lsat.org .
