The Office of Information Technology (OIT) will be performing UTSA network maintenance in the JPL Operations Data Center from 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 11th to 5:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 12th.  

During this time, all users utilizing our UTSA wired and wireless networks to access network resources and internet services will experience intermittent network interruptions within all buildings. Additionally, off-campus users will not be able to access UTSA resources.

The Office of Information Technology will be performing emergency UTSA network maintenance in the JPL Operations Data Center starting at 12:00 a.m. early morning on Wednesday, March 8, and lasting until 1:00 a.m. on the same day.

This emergency maintenance work is being conducted to replace a network core hardware component. During this time, all users utilizing our UTSA wired and wireless networks to access network resources and internet services may experience intermittent network interruptions.  We appreciate your patience as we conduct this necessary maintenance work.

The Office of Information Technology (OIT) has been advised that our vendor Microsoft is experiencing a service degradation with the Office 365 App Launcher. This service degradation may intermittently affect some users’ ability to view some app launcher tiles within the Microsoft Office 365 offering on the web.

The affected tiles may include, but is not limited to, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, Office Online, and custom app launchers.

The Office of Information Technology is following the developments with Microsoft and will provide more information as it becomes available.

This issue is now resolved and both inbound and outbound telephone service has been restored. Our vendor, AT&T, confirmed there was a fiber cut on their fiber optic network impacting UTSA and multiple other customers. AT&T successfully repaired the service early this morning. The Office of Information Technology has received an update about the intermittent issue that is affecting telephone service from UTSA phones. Our vendor, AT&T, has confirmed that the service degradation is due to a fiber cut within the AT&T network. AT&T is working to identify the exact location of the disruption and resolve the issue but has not yet provided an estimated time for resolution. Due to end-of-year 2016 processing, the Banner database will be placed into a restricted role on the evening of Wednesday, August 31st starting at 5:30 p.m., to allow for the end-of-year processes to run. The restricted role allows only certain system logins to access the Banner database (ex: APPWORX batch report requests) so batch processing can continue running.  

The Banner database will be made available to all users at 5:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 1st.   

Also, Registration and Payments functionality will be turned off in ASAP so that no transactions are applied to student accounts while the end-of-year processes are running. Registration and Payments functionality will be turned back on at 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 1st.

The Office of Information Technology will be conducting a scheduled maintenance on UTSA’s shared network drive server S: Drive beginning early morning Saturday, May 21 at 12:00 a.m. Maintenance is estimated to be completed by Saturday, May 21 at 4:00 a.m.

We request that everyone log off from their computer at the end of their work day on Friday, May 20 to assist us in the maintenance effort.

Please note that during the maintenance work timeframe, there will be no access to the S: Drive.

This service degradation may affect campus users' ability to access some UTSA resources, including UTSA Office 365 services (email, SharePoint, OneDrive for Business), and other internet-based hosted services such as Blackboard, web conferencing, or video services. Intermittent Service iconIntermittent Service Update: Network Access Issue Affecting Internal and External UTSA Applications The Office of Information Technology is actively working to resolve a network access issue affecting all users attempting to access both internal and external UTSA applications. Services are still intermittent. We are working to restore basic network services. OIT teams are still troubleshooting a potential network hardware issue and working with our network hardware manufacture to identify the root cause. System Restored iconSystem Restored Issue Resolved: Network Issue Affecting Internal and External UTSA Applications The network access issue preventing users from accessing both internal and external UTSA application resources is now resolved. OIT technicians, working with our network hardware manufacturer, were able to isolate the root cause of the issue to a core network hardware component within our UTSA Data Center. Once identified as the root cause, the hardware was replaced and access to the UTSA network and applications is confirmed available. OIT teams are reviewing all events tied to this outage in an effort to avoid a recurrence. ​The Helix Media server is scheduled for an upgrade tomorrow, Jan 7, 2016 from 3:00 a.m. – 5:00 a.m. The media server and its resources will not be accessible during this period.

To prepare for this upgrade, the Helix Media Mashup tool in Blackboard will be uninstalled this afternoon to make way for a new mashup tool for use in Blackboard.

 To link a video during the maintenance period, please use the "embed code "from the media library server and insert into your Blackboard course content. All previously linked videos and imported content (course copy) inserted in your Blackboard course will continue to function.
